Ask:
Recently, I read a novel to study English. I read "The Phantom of the Opera".
My senior high teacher suggests to do so.However, some of the sentences or words look quite strange. I mean we won't use like that.
Do you think it's a good way to learn English by reading novels?
Or did I choose the wrong novel? Which novel do you suggest for learning English?
thanks.

Teacher Jay Answer:
Hello and welcome to the board.
You can ask questions about English grmmar and usage here.Literature is a very good way to learn English.
You will be exposed to different types of usage and styles.Choosing the right novel to read will be the challenge.
If you find that adult novels are too difficult, you may instead find that reading novels written for children (or teenagers) to be a better fit.
There is some excellent children's literature out there. I have some suggestions if you are interested.
In the meantime, what problems did you have with "Phantom"?
You can ask your questions here.
